Hi everyone! I hope your day is going well!
First of all, be sure to get a reading packet from the table up front. Your homework for tonight is to read The Meaning of July 4 for the Negro by Frederick Douglass. Read, annotate, and answer questions
Your assignment for the day is to blog as if you were your insect. Please post your "blog" here in the comments section so that I can respond. Here is the assignment (with credit to my daughter Lauren for the idea :)
Writing activity: To give you practice in creating your insect’s character and voice, choose one (or more!) of the following scenarios to “blog” about as your insect. Play with the language, word choice, tone of your insect
1. Humans have trampled through and wrecked your web/nest/etc...AGAIN
2. The girl/guy you are attracted to bumped into/flew into you today but didn’t seem to even notice you even though you tried really hard to get his/her attention
3. Your best friend is an insect of another species and it’s causing tension at home
4. You are feeling threatened by another insect/colony/etc
5. You barely escaped today after a bird (or other predator) thought you looked tasty
6. You found some AMAZING food today!
7. Family problems have got you down.
8. You are commenting on a insect world event (the insecticide that happened down the street, the ant battle and overthrow of the ant queen, etc)
9. Other??
