Today we: 1) had lit circles to share first impressions of our books and goal check-ins. (here is copy of reading log and reading questions) 2) looked at the importance of transitions and sentence combining and practiced using transitions for sentence combining. 3) Full not-so-shitty draft was due -- we had someone who hasn’t read our essay yet take a look and provide feedback on this worksheet HW: optional grammar packet Today we:

1. practiced vocab/grammar 2. worked together to brainstorm topics we would like to discuss in our socratic seminar -- list of topics generated 3. got into our lit circle groups, shared which book we had chosen and why and generated our own reading schedule -- trying for 200 pages per week in preparation for college expectations 4. discussed the reading “The Case for Short Words,” wrote our own one-syllable paragraphs and then looked at examples of jargon |
